Kate Middleton, Prince William Heartbreak: Couple Told To 'Go Off', Accused Of 'Outrageous' Spending
Kate Middleton and Prince William are considered two of the most active members of the royal family today. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been visible to the public again after several weeks of quarantine due to the perils posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the royal pair has been working very hard for the monarchy and its people, malicious rumors, harsh allegations and controversies continue to plague them.
Recently, Republic CEO Graham Smith told Daily Express that the United Kingdom does not owe the parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis a role or an income. The executive even said Kate and Prince William can go off and do their own thing.
According to him, Kate and Prince William should stop their “outrageous” spending. He, also, discussed reports claiming that the Cambridge couple has spent a total of £15,000 on a 950ft hedge just so the public would not be able to see their activities inside their property.
"It is typical of the royals to spend this type of money because all they think about is their own lifestyles. They have a deep-seated sense of entitlement,” he said, before adding that the royals have been spending tens of thousands on their homes and helicopter travel around Britain when they could simply take trains or cars.
Smith added that, if Kate Middleton and Prince William are using the public money to sustain their “privilege lifestyle,” then, it is an “outrageous” use of public funds. He even claimed that Queen Elizabeth should be given an annual salary like what the Prime Minister is getting.
“The costs should be stripped away so that we can save that £345million and just provided us with a head of state who is supported by a small office," he said, as per Daily Express.
Both Kate Middleton and Prince William have yet to comment on Graham Smith’s recent statements.
Meanwhile, Marie Claire reported that Meghan Markle had “unrealistic expectations” for her relationship with Kate Middleton. Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan, and the Making of a Modern Royal Family book claimed that the wives of Prince Harry and Prince William maintained a “cordial” relationship, but they were not best friends at all.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl, in an interview for Meghan & Harry: The New Revelations, said that the discomfiture between the two duchesses stemmed from Meghan Markle’s anticipation that she and Kate Middleton can be close pals someday.
