Joe Biden Says He Would Be A More Caring President Than Donald Trump
Joe Biden is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to convince the frustrated American voters that he'd not disappoint them. Keeping in line with that, he assured them that he would be a more thoughtful, competent and caring president that Donald Trump.
Biden officially accepted the nomination of his party during Thursday's Democratic National Convention, while keeping his focus on the key message of his campaign that he was running for presidency this year to restore America's character. In his address, the former vice president highlighted the amount of anger and fear in today's America, noting that it was time to "choose hope over fear, facts over fiction, fairness over privilege."
He went on to say that his campaign isn't only focused on winning votes, but it is about winning the heart and soul of America. Pointing out that politicians usually deem each election as the most important one, but the people of America know in their bones that this one is more consequential.
The event highlighted Biden's life and political career, but the former vice president also took this opportunity to take a jab at his opponent for not having a plan to combat the coronavirus, and not taking responsibility for his decisions. The night as a whole focused on Biden's impressive political career that has seen him rise to the highest levels of government despite an adverse family background, CNN reported.
Biden's first two runs for president didn't go well, and the third try was slated to meet the same fate until a turning point win in South Carolina earlier this year. After taking office, Biden said his first step would be bringing the virus under control, noting that the pandemic didn't have to be this bad but Trump kept waiting for a miracle.
Insisting that there is no miracle coming, Biden accused Trump of failing in his most basic duty to the country, that is protecting the people of America. The concluding night of the convention also featured average people of the country whose lives have been changed by the former vice president.
The convention kicked off with several videos giving testimony to his humanity. The executive director of a progressive organization Run For Something Amanda Litman opened up about how he consoled her family when a relative was ill with colon cancer, noting that Biden can bring such empathy to the nation that's deal with a pandemic at the moment.
