Kate Middleton and Prince William have set the bar for an ideal couple, not only within the royal premises but everywhere. The love, support, and care the Duke and the Duchess show for each other have often made headlines and every time it’s nothing very different from the previous ones. With her act, The Duchess of Cambridge has given a display to the world that she keeps the ideals of her husband before anything – even the royal tradition.

In 2017, when Kate received the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, she chose to switch up the traditional ivory making up the honor for glass. Nobody in royal history has ever done that – so it sort of spurred a wave of interest among royal experts.

At first, her move seems natural - as probably driven by her own likings or dislikings, but it’s not exactly so.  Kate’s decision to switch up the ivory is thought to have been inspired by her wish to be in line with Prince William’s long-time commitment to bring an end to the ivory trade.  

According to royal experts, Prince William has been steering the campaign to crumble down the illegal trade of ivory, and Kate’s gesture was a tribute to him and his important initiative.

The honor is presented by the royal head to royal members who deserve appreciation for their diligence in keeping up with their duties and representing the Queen on her behalf. The Royal Family Order is a painting of the Queen set on an ivory slate "bordered by diamonds and surmounted by a Tudor Crown in diamonds and red enamel," attached to a royal yellow ribbon.

Since Kate’s entry into the royal family, the Queen has been highly appreciative of her ability to hit the equilibrium between the royal and personal duties. Kate has been one of Queen’s closest royal members and the reason is - her inclusive approach towards society and important causes.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said, "Royal sources insist the Queen holds Kate in high regard and admires how she juggles her royal role with a busy family.”

Quite in line with Kate, Prince William has also been pro-active towards his social responsibilities as a royal. Recently, the Prince was admired for his take on the importance of the mental aspect of sports. In addition, the pair is also doing their bit to garner support for coronavirus relief. Undoubtedly, the Duke and Duchess have set a great example with their thoughtful acts.
