Ariana Grande Is Set To Sweep Fans Off Their Feet With 'Rain On Me' Performance With Lady Gaga For 2020 MTV VMAs

Ariana Grande, a 27-year-old American songstress, and young diva, glazes to cause heavy rain. The 'One Last Time' singer with shower love and thrills at the nearing 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. As per Billboard, Grande will perform alongside the mother monster, and 'A Star Is Born' star Lady gaga. The duo's upcoming performance marks the debut TV performance of 'Rain On Me,' which became an instant hit upon its release.
The pop superstar started a social media trend when she announced her listing to the official performers' roster in the prestigious awards show. The news was made known by Grande on Aug. 18 (Tuesday) on her personal Instagram account that comes with a quirky video clip of her and Gaga in the sky.
Moreover, the 'Rain On Me' duet hails as the nominee forerunner for this year's awards event. Grande and Gaga hold nine nominees each, and seven of them are for their 'Rain On Me' duet. The categories that the two stars eyes to covet are 'Video of the Year,' 'Best Collaboration,' 'Song of the Year,' 'Best Cinematography,' 'Best Pop,' 'Best Choreography,' and 'Best Visual Effects.'
According to MTV, young singer Billie Eilish and The Weeknd follow Grande and Gaga, holding six nominees. The 'Break Free' singer also earned two nominations for her collaboration track 'Stuck With U,' with Justin Bieber.
Previously, the VMAs have revealed on August 13 that Gaga will grace the MTV stage for a performance of her latest release, but it was not specified the Grande duo. The 'Poker Face' singer last put on a show at the VMAs in 2013 when she kicked off the event with her hit track 'Applause.' On the other hand, Grande last performed at the VMAs two years ago with her 'God is a woman' performance.
The upcoming 'Rain On Me' performance of Grande will be her fourth time to appear on the VMAs stage. Notably, three of her past performances were all collaborations with other females. Her 'Rain On Me' with Gaga comes after her 2016's 'Side to Side' with rapper Nicki Minaj. In 2014, she teamed up with Jessi J and Minaj for 'Bang Bang' alongside a solo performance of 'Break Free.' It was then followed by 'God is a woman' in 2018.
Among the artists to perform at the VMAs are rapper Doja Cat, South Korean band BTS, and Latin artist J Balvin. The three were the first set of singers announced and then followed by the announcement of Roddy Ricch, Maluma, The Weeknd, and CNCO.
