The Glorias Starring Julianne Moore Not Coming To Theatres
A series of big-budget movies have either skipped or postponed theatrical release due to the pandemic. The drought on the grounds of theatres will, apparently, go on for some more time as more movies are joining the trend of going with the streamer. The next one in the line is Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander-starrer The Glorias.
In the light of coronavirus and scaled-down capacity theatres, the makers of The Glorias have decided to ditch theaters. The theatrical release was set to be September 25, but fate has changed, therefore the movie will instead be debuting on Amazon Prime for the audience to stream online. According to Deadline, the movie will initially be available only in the USA and Canada and will move to eastern countries later this year.
The Glorias is set to be on the shelves of all Electronic Sell-Through platforms for purchase starting September 30. Making its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in the month of January, the movie was acquired by LD Entertainment and Roadside Attractions.
The story is based on the life of a veteran journalist, activist, and feminist leader Gloria Steinem. Steinem’s entire life has been an example of a struggle for rights, equality, and harmony - exactly what the audience is, currently, looking for in movies.
Speaking about the agenda that The Glorias puts up, Roadside co-presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d'Arbeloff said that for the current moment marked with political unrest and struggle for justice, the movie is, in fact, so relevant. About the decision to side with the streamer, the presidents said it was a deliberate move to capture the widest audience so the important message can reach as many people as possible.
Lately, a growing number of movies and shows are somewhere around burning topics of today which is expressive of the integrity in the film industry that can be very helpful in modern times.
The movie stretches across the five most important decades of Gloria’s career as a journalist and activist. Julie Taymor will be helming the movie. Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander will be in the lead roles. In addition to Moore and Vikander, the movie features Janelle Monae as Dorothy Pitman Hughes, Bette Midler as Bella Abzug, Timothy Hutton as Leo Steinem, and Lorraine Toussaint as Florynce Kennedy.
The essence of the movie promises to be an unmissable treat for those who have an affinity for social responsibilities.
