Kylie Jenner Says She Never Used Racist Caption On Instagram
Kylie Jenner posted a photograph to her social media account and captioned it, "brown-eyed girl." Photoshopped versions of the caption began doing the rounds online and caused quite a stir. The controversy plagued Kylie Cosmetics CEO is now responding to the criticism and drawing attention to her original post to reveal the truth.
Putting an end to speculations, Jenner, opened up about a fake version of her Instagram post that has been floating around the internet for quite some time now. The 23-year-old beauty mogul posted multiple photos of her outfit while vacationing in the Turks and Caicos Islands, using a caption that led to all the confusion.
Jenner explained that she originally captioned the post with a white heart and sparkles emojis, but later changed it to the "brown-eyed girl," using the same two emojis at the end. Taking to her Instagram Stories on Monday, she pointed out that an edited screenshot of her post that makes it look though her caption reads "brown-skinned girl" has surfaced.
Kylie shared the fake screenshot to her Instagram account, noting that someone photoshopped her photo and changed the caption to "brown-skinned girl," adding that she never said this, according to TMZ. She then posted another Story showing screen captures of the original caption and the edited one, which was edited a few minutes after uploading the photo. "And that is all," she wrote.
Kylie has been subject to cultural appropriation and Blackfishing for quite some time now. She has made strange claims including that she invented wings, darkened her skin, and, allegedly, adopted cosmetic surgeries to achieve fuller features, and curvey body.
She hasn't just been accused of appropriating Black women’s esthetic and hairstyle but has been accused of blackfishing. Kylie also shared another Story featuring screenshots of two Instagram users defending her.
One Instagram user pointed out that since the same screenshot is used everywhere, it is clear that the image has been edited because if it was real, there would be several screenshots captured from different phones and fonts. Another Instagram user asked why some people make a drama out of everything and invent lies.
The KarJenner family rose to fame in 2007 with Keeping Up With the Kardashians. While Kylie's sister Kim has faced multiple accusations of having no talent other than having a curvy figure, the KKW Beauty founder has proven her work ethics and has been working towards helping incarcerated persons gain their freedom, but her siblings continue to face criticism online.
