The production of Keanu Reeves’ much-awaited Matrix 4 came to a halt as the pandemic hit earlier this year. After about 5 months of hiatus in the filming, the production has been resumed lately in the Germany city Berlin.

Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures had to suspend the production for a foreseeable future in the light of raging coronavirus in the month of March.  Eager fans, fueled-up cast members, and a driven production team were forced to hold their horses indefinitely.

However, resumption of production in August is, in fact, sooner than anybody thought. Just like everybody, Reeves is psyched up about the production of Matrix 4 moving further.

The lead actor, Reeves doesn’t have anything but words of praise and gratefulness to be back working in the Tinseltown. In conversation with AP, Reeves shed some light on how the filming was not very much impacted by the presence of COVID-19 measures.

The actor said that the studio rolled out a nice set of protocols that have been effective and non-disruptive. Reeves added on to say that the “rhythm” of filming has essentially remained the same, crediting the hard work of the team and organization for the same. Good COVID-19 measures are surely a reason for Reeves to be cheerful, but what’s bringing him sheer pleasure is to be working again.

Speaking about Matrix 4, Reeves highlighted the importance of the Matrix series to him, saying that “everybody loves the project” and in this situation, things need to be “figured out” so that they can produce what everybody has been biding their time for.

The actor also said that the “show business people are the best” and the team is a bit “scrappy,” and they know their work very well – and it’s an honor for him to be a part of the project and he is “grateful” for that.

Lana Wachowski will be the in-charge of the fourth installment of the sci-fi series. The old hands at Matrix Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith are being joined by newcomers Priyanka Chopra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Brian J. Smith,  Eréndira Ibarra, Andrew Caldwell, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

It’s the fourth entry of arguably the most career-defining movie of Keanu Reeves’ career – coming after 17 years, therefore expectations and energy, in fact, know no limits. But the wait is a little uncomfortable - WB has set the new release date to be April 1, 2022
