A myriad of new projects may be expected as a result of Leonardo DiCaprio’s filmy insights and creativity - as DiCaprio is widening his production company’s focus through a new collaboration. DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way Productions and the President of Production Jennifer Davisson have officially inked a first-look deal with Sony.

The deal is worth multiple years and is expected to yield new projects – in fact, according to the reports, the two companies have already set the ball rolling on two new projects.

Although the collaboration may seem fresh, DiCaprio has been associated with Davisson for a very long time having collaborated for multiple successful projects. Davisson has produced several of DiCaprio’s essence-defining films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, and The Revenant.

Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood starring Dicaprio and Brad Pitt in the lead role was also produced Sony. Clearly, they understand each other’s potential and work quality very well, and a new deal is just a part of the long-standing trust.

Through DiCaprio’s words, the faith in the partnership becomes evident - talking about Sony’s chairman Tom Rothman, the actor highlighted the importance of his presence in the industry saying that Rothman has never been traditional in his approach, instead, he is always on the lookout for new ways to produce creative quality work. This Non-adherence to “traditional Hollywood norms” makes him an interesting man work with. Dicaprio added on to say that he is enthusiastic to “enter into a new phase of partnerships with Sony.”

The feelings are mutual, saying of DiCaprio and Davisson, Rothman said that DiCaprio’s “producing and acting instincts” backed up by Davisson’s understanding of films is nearly equivalent to the “best material in the world.” Rothman further added that DiCaprio is a “rare GOAT” and Sony is fortunate to strike a deal with him.

DiCaprio is working tirelessly on a multitude of projects – from bits in entertainment to the environment. 

The actor’s latest project Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon starring Robert DeNiro is set to make its way out towards the mid of 2021. The movie will be released through Paramount Pictures.

It is encouraging to know DiCaprio is collaborating with Sony – and interesting will be to see what comes out this tremendous partnership between the top influencers of the industry. However, since the actor has been on a run lately, so it may be a while before we get to hear announcements of more new projects.
