Martin, who is the brain behind the epic fantasy series titled Game of Thrones, has been working on the most-awaited novel for almost a decade now. However, it remains to be seen if TWOW would hit the shelves very soon.

The news outlet recalled that George R.R. Martin, in June, said the COVID-19 quarantine has helped him focus on writing. This, according to the publication, could be a confirmation that The Winds of Winter book will be out by next year.

“If nothing else, the enforced isolation has helped me write. I am spending long hours every day on The Winds of Winter and making steady progress,” George R.R. Martin wrote of The Winds of Winter.

“I finished a new chapter yesterday, another one three days ago, another one the previous week. But no, this does not mean that the book will be finished tomorrow or published next week. It’s going to be a huge book, and I still have a long way to go,” he went on.

In his other comments, George R.R. Martin hinted that The Winds of Winter might be released in Summer 2021. The American writer even expressed his frustrations after the WorldCon had to “go virtual” because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This, then, sparked speculations that the 71-year-old author could, finally, announce the release of the book in the convention next year.
