Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have weathered through many controversies since the beginning of their relationship. Both parties were from very different background and yet they made there unusual coupling work out.

The royal couple was loved by so many of the British people and it seemed like they were to lead a picture-perfect royal life just like that of Prince Harry’s older brother. But this was not so.

Approximately two years after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, news broke out that the couple had plans of leaving the royal family, saying goodbye to the lucrative royal life. There was no affirmation if the rumors were true, not until when Prince Harry and Meghan decided to skip Christmas festivities in Norfolk royal residence.

Yearly the royal family spends Christmas together in the Norfolk royal residence but the Duke and Duchess opted to not attend. Instead, the couple spent their winter holiday in Canada, away from there family. The couple came under extreme scrutiny for this decision.

According to sources close to the royal family, the decision of Prince Harry and Meghan spending Christmas away from family and in Canada was actually approved by the Queen Herself, Prince Harry’s grandmother and boss.

The Queen supported the decision and encouraged the couple to jet off to Canada.

Prince Harry and Meghan were under a lot of pressure and Prince Harry kindly asked for his grandmother to let them spend some time away from Britain, which the queen was very supportive of.

“The Queen, who saw Harry and Meghan regularly since they all lived on the Windsor estate, actually encouraged him to take the trip. After all, they had spent the past two Christmases at her Norfolk retreat, and other family members - including the Cambridges ‒ had skipped festive visits there, too,” a royal insider said.

The couple took the trip to Vancouver, Canada where they stayed in a very exclusive house. The Prince and Meghan stayed in Canada for 6 weeks before returning to Britain, but shortly after the couple flew back to Canada without the Queen's approval.

At this time it was believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were no longer in Canada to unwind but instead to finalize their plans of leaving their royal duties permanently.

The couple stayed in Canada for a few months and upon their return to British soil, they have officially announced that they were stepping down from Royal duties.
