Selena Gomez Attempts Ramen For HBO Max 'Selena + Chef'
Selena Gomez started her own cooking show for HBO Max and the first sneak peek is revealed! Yes, The latest cooking show named Selena + Chef marked its debut on Aug. 13 in which fans will witness Gomez attempting to make perfect ramen.
The best part about the show is that the star won't be cooking herself but with top Chefs in the food industry. In the debut show, Chef Candice Kumai accompanied the 28-year-old actress through video call and helped to achieve perfect ramen.
While ramen is one of the simplest dishes to make for beginners, it seems that A Rainy Day in New York star had difficulty in keeping up with the instructions provided by Kumai. Although the actress had her bestie, Raquelle Stevens to help her with the cooking but that didn't work in Gomez's favor.
Gomez asked Kumai if the ramen is supposed to be sticky while pouring in the strainer. The extra hands, Stevens was holding the strainer on the sink to ensure that the platform isn't a mess. Kumai suggested that using a tong, in this case, would be appreciated but it seems the instructions were not followed properly.
In fact, this advice ruined the star's kitchen. It was interesting how Stevens offered that she will get the tongs but forgot that she is still holding the strainer that was leaking. She took the leaking strainer that had noodles in it and went on to get the tongs.
Gomez immediately realized what her friend is doing and asked what she is up to. However, the Disney star ignored the leaking crisis and went on with plating.
"Use the noodles to create the base of the ramen into the bowl. You want to twirl them a little bit, so it's in the center and it has a lot of height. The art of perfecting the noodle is really just cooking it al dente," The Chef told Gomez.
Stevens jokingly responded that Kumai needs to reconsider the "art" section of the cooking. Gomez agreed with her friend while she acknowledged that the output is not perfect but the presentation had a different story to tell.
The entire idea behind creating this show is to keep the fans entertained amid the coronavirus pandemic. Gomez spoke at Television Critics Association virtually last week where she discussed various issues regarding mental health. As per the star, this lighthearted show was required to keep everyone in the quarantine sane.
