Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson resides at the pinnacle of the film industry and there is no doubt about it. The wrestler-turned-actor may not have racked up tons of awards in cinema, but he has certainly won the hearts of people all across the globe with his incredible persona and talent.

No guarantee for critical success, but the films that The Rock stars in - turn out to be the biggest blockbusters such as 2019’s  Jumanji: The Next Level and the spin-off of the Fast & Furious franchise, Hobbs & Shaw.

Probably that is the reason why creators are never hesitant to invest in The Rock - and the same has made him the top-earner of the game. According to Forbes, Dwayne Johnson is the highest-paid actor in the world making $87.5 million between June 2019 and June 2020.

The number has slightly slipped down from last year’s $89.4 million. However, this little downturn can be due to the virus which has definitely cut down considerably on the actor’s public appearances for which he charges a hefty amount. On the whole, The Rock has been marvelous this year too.

The Rock made $23.5 million alone from starring in the lead role for the upcoming Netflix action-comedy Red Notice. Additionally, the actor’s Under Armour clothing line, Project Rock has helped him heap up a good wealth.  

In the highest-paid list, The Rock is being followed by his Red Notice co-star Ryan Reynolds who has collected a $71.5 million in a year. Reynolds made $20 from the Netflix film. Mark Wahlberg is at third with $58 million. His earnings can be attributed to his role in action-comedy Spenser Confidential and his participation in the production of documentaries like McMillions and Wahl Street.

Those who made it to the top-10 are majorly all-rounders who are good at both action and belly-hurting comedy such as Jackie Chan, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Will Smith, and Ben Affleck. The top-10 actors of the world in terms of earnings have collected over $545 million.

The list of highest-paid actresses has not yet been shared by Forbes, but can be expected soon. Last year, the collection of top-10 actresses totaled a little over $314 million. This year, a surge may be expected thanks to streaming platforms.

2020 marks the first time The Rock has topped the list for 2 years straight. The Rock first featured in the list in the year 2016 with earnings over 64 million. The big man is at a stage of his career where he may always be expecting hefty paychecks.
