Euphoria's Zendaya Remembers The Time She Feared For Her Father's Life
American songstress and HBO’s “Euphoria” lead star Zendaya open up about how she used to fear for her father’s well-being while acting upon her character in the 2016 “Spider-Man” film under Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 23-year-old actress spoke to Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors for a women’s fashion magazine cover. The actress, who will appear in InStyle’s September cover issue, sits with Cullors as she bluntly shared her emotional story over her father’s safety. According to Hollywood Reporter, “The Greatest Showman” cast is close to her father as he is her company during shoots and filming, making him an assistant like running errands for daughter.
The actress said that she started worrying the moment she heard the news. She became very “extremely emotional” thinking who will take care of her father or pick up food for him at that time. “And I started worrying and calling him like, ‘Are you OK?’ I didn’t want him to go out and do anything,” Zendaya said.
Despite the openness of Marvel and Disney on talks about racial discrimination in the U.S., Zendaya couldn’t help but worry for her father as she is very much concerned about their safety. The songstress then blurted out that what adds to her worry is his father’s demeanor, a 65-year-old Black man. Even though she trusts his father so much, she still fears for her safety, which causes her to be scared.
Since her fame emerged, Zendaya openly advocates for racial discrimination. During the feat of the Black Lives Matter protest, the actress joined the call out through posting relevant writings to her various social media account.
As per Yahoo! News, the songstress is being praised in different countries for her dedication and passion in expressing her feelings and points of view to relevant topics. The critics also commended Zendaya to use her voice to inspire other people, especially during this crisis.
Zendaya also shared with InStyle how she utilizes her voice and platform to uplift the Black community and tackle issues that share hope to anyone who needs it.
Moreover, the actress opted not to be called an activist as it makes her very hesitant about her principles. Zendaya expresses how she wants to be known as a celebrity who cares about her fellow humans.
