Keke Palmer will debut on Disney+ with an upcoming revived series, Louder and Prouder. The original series The Proud Family began in 2001 and after almost two decades the creators announced renewed show.

Palmer seemed to be one of the busiest people on television as she earlier announced hosting the MTV Video Music Awards. The actress disclosed that the show is set to air on Aug. 30. However, the 26-year-old shared the news of joining the Disney team through a virtual reunion.

The Proud Family original cast reunited through a video conference that was moderated by the Akeelah and the Bee star. The video conference was joined by the executive producers and The Proud Family's cast during the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People festival, which is based on Arts, Entertainment, and Culture.

The reunion was attended by all the cast members such as Kyla Pratt who portrayed Penny Proud, Paula Jai Parker who played Trudy Proud, Tommy Davidson played Oscar Proud, Cedric the Entertainer portrayed Uncle Bobby, and Jo Marie Payton played Suga Mama.

Apart from the cast, creators of the show including Ralph Farquhar and Bruce W. Smith also joined the reunion, who are executive producers on the show. In the group discussion, the cast members spoke the impact of The Proud Family had on the audience based on culture.

The cast recalled when the show was premiered over 18 years ago on Disney network and presented a glimpse of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. The series is going to be Penny Proud centric along with her parents Trudy and Oscar.

Suga Mama’s character is the grandmother on the show and there are twin siblings in the family named CeCe and BeBe. Louder and Prouder will also feature recurring characters such as Zoey Howzer, LaCienega Boulevardez, and Dijonay Jones.

Palmer portrayed Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins' character who is a young activist. The 14-year-old character doesn't hesitate to speak against the wrong. She is blunt, full of wisdom, mature, and honest.

"She is extremely mature for her age and will not hesitate to shut anyone down with her blunt honesty and wisdom. The adopted daughter of mixed-race parents, Maya is new to town, and initially disassociates herself from Penny and her crew,” the creators explained.

While the original The Proud Family show is available to watch on Disney's online streaming platform, the revived version The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is under development.
