Set for the Netflix release on Sept. 4, Charlie Kaufman’s psychological horror I’m Thinking of Ending Things strikes as an otherworldly film, the trailer suggests.

Netflix rolled out the trailer of the movie recently which sort of guarantees an incredible horror movie experience.

Charlie Kaufman needs no introduction as his work speaks volumes of his extraordinary skillset. The movie in question may be his next remarkable project. It’s been a long time since Kaufman went to work behind the camera - I’m Thinking of Ending Things is Kaufman’s first movie behind the camera since 2015’s animation Anomalisa.

The film stars Jessie Buckley, Jesse Plemon, Toni Collette, and David Thewlis in the lead roles. As mentioned earlier, the flavor of the plot is horror, but everybody wants to know a little more than just the genre.

Therefore, here is a little glimpse of the story: Buckley, in the role of an unnamed woman, accompanies her boyfriend Jake, played by Plemon, to a road trip to pay a visit to his parents. The trip isn't like a normal one - it brings along a series of weird events. Much of the plot remains in control of Buckley’s character and her unintelligible experiences. On the trip, she comes to a realization that something isn’t right, but she can’t explain any part of it. Upon reaching his parent’s house, things turn even weirder and crankier – this is exactly where Kaufman’s mind-bending creativity reaches the peak.

The background reveals big enough as to how the screenplay will progress, at the same time the essence of the movie can only be discovered when it will debut on the streaming platform after about a month.

In conversation with the media, Kaufman explained the fabric of the movie, saying that the movie will revolve around three different not-so-bright human emotions – regret, hopelessness, and loneliness.

In addition to revealing the secret sauce of the movie, Kaufman has said that Jessie Buckley is the best match to play the lead role in the movie. The man praised Buckley for imparting a realistic touch to her roles.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things marks the third time that Kaufman is going to be perching on the top of the director’s chair. The screenwriter may not seem experienced enough at film-direction, but as a matter of fact, his vast knowledge of movies is truly unparalleled.

Kaufman is coming back to direction after five years, therefore the movie is definitely worth paying attention to. It's so satisfying to know that the countdown will last for only 1 month.
