Alyssa Milano, Tony Danza Starring 'Who's the Boss?' Under Development
Who's the Boss? is one of the iconic television series that starred Alyssa Milano and Tony Danza. Much to the delight, the two most loved characters from the show will be seen in the reprised version of the series.
Sony Pictures Television officially declared on Aug. 3 that the Who's the Boss? the sequel is under the development process. Both the stars will reprise the characters of Samantha Micelli and Tony Micelli. The upcoming version will continue the original storyline and the centric characters will be retired housekeeper and former MLB player, Tony.
The story will revolve around him and his on-screen daughter Samantha. As per the synopsis, Samantha will portray a single mom and set in their original house that was shown in 1984.
"Who is now a single mother and living in the house the original series was set in. In line with Norman Lear’s classic shows, the new comedy will explore generational differences, as well as opposing world views and parenting styles within the dynamic of a modern family in 2020," disclosed by the studio.
Sony Pictures Television revealed that the supporting cast members will include Judith Light who played Angela Bower's character and Danny Pintauro who portrayed Jonathan. The studio further disclosed that the entire cast of the original show is intact and close to each other.
The creators are hopeful to work with all of them in a creative light and reprise each of the characters in the new show. Although there is only one original cast member who won't be seen in the new series, Katherine Helmond.
Unfortunately, Helmond who portrayed Mona's character passed away last year in February. The original series began in 1984 and completed eight seasons till 1992. In an interview with ET, Milano expressed enthusiasm regarding the reprisal of the show.
The 47-year-old actress recalled that the series was progressive for that time. She explained how the show involved a single mother, crack jokes, free-spirited, owns a business, and hired a man who is a single father as a housekeeper.
My Name Is Earl star admitted that the family shown in the series was truly modern for the 80s. She explained everyone on the show wants to ensure that the new series is relevant, smart, and thoughtful for today's generation.
As a tribute, Milano shared a picture from the original series on her Instagram. The actress wrote in the caption that she has been waiting to share this news for a long time.
