Electric Daisy Carnival 2020 Is Officially Cancelled, New Dates Is Set For May 2021
One of the world's massive dance festivals, Electric Daisy Carnival, will not return this year by canceling their postponed dates in October. The announcement left the 150,000 festival-goers per day saddened as the festival is fast approaching.
The Las Vegas Speedway event was initially set for May 15-17, where it glazes to feature over 200 artists from around the world. The 2020 performers lineup includes prominent EDM artists and DJs like David Guetta, DJ Snake, Chainsmokers, Major Lazer and many more. The colossal event first announced its rescheduling memo in April and was appointed to October 2-4 date. The deferred dates are to allow the COVID-19 cases in the U.S. to flatten its curve.
However, on August 2 (Sunday), the founder of Electric Daisy Carnival, also Insomniac's founder, Pasquale Rotella, has announced once again the festival's postponement. This time, the massive event will be taking place on May 21-23, 2021, according to Billboard.
The announcement made by Rotella did not come as a shock to the festival-goers, withstanding the fact of the coronavirus state of the U.S.
Rotella took on his personal Instagram account to share the breaking news with a lengthy caption that writes the process of how the organization and he came to a decision. He particularly said that he and his distinguished team have been working their sweat out the last few months to curate an effective plan to make Electric Daisy Carnival safe and COVID-19-free.
He also revealed that their initial plans are to have the festival-goers go through a COVID-19 test at home before traveling to the venue and another test upon arrival to the festival gates. The planned protocol is complimentary as the organizers are in light of U.S.'s programs and mandates in preventing the spread of the deadly virus [Review Journal].
Moreover, the festival was abrupted because the medical facilities needed for the protocol are not going to be available by October 2.
"Regardless, I'm proud of our team for continuing to believe & work so hard throughout the process," Rotella added.
The post also expresses Rotella's gratitude to the avid supports and festival-goers.
Furthermore, the organizers of Electric Daisy Carnival promised to give a good show next year with more energy as the carnival celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The tickets purchased for this year's event will still be eligible for usage next year, including the CAMP EDC and shuttle passes. However, to those who couldn't attend can get their refund in edclasvegas.
