One Direction Celebrates Their 10th Anniversary By Throwing A Classic Stadium Show On Youtube
The English-Irish boyband, One Direction, has prolonged its 10th-anniversary celebration by going down the memory lane: streaming their 2014 “Where We Are Tour” in San Siro Stadium with a bonus DVD content that’s never been shown before. According to Billboard, the band’s catalog gained 173.6 percent in U.S.’ on-demand streams on July 23 in the group’s 10th anniversary.
The “Where We Are Tour” is their third headlining concert tour in support of “Midnight Memories,” kicking off the group’s first-ever stadium tour.
As stated in Encyclopedia Britannica, the British-Irish male vocal group has captivated young fans around the world in 2010 because of their stylish looks and bright pop-rock genre. One Direction first got together on a talent contest for aspiring singers on British TV’s “X Factor.” Each of the 1D members, with ages ranging between 16 and 18 years old, auditioned as solo performers and later took the advice in the early part of the season to team up and enhanced each other’s talents. Simon Cowell, one of the judges of the said talent contest, offered a recording contract to the English lads soon after the season ended. They were known to be the stylish teen idols with distinct personalities and good looks that turns the head of every Directioner across the globe.
One Direction started recording in 2011 and released their 1st Album “Up All Night.” It became a rapid hit in the U.K. and other countries. The single “What Makes You Beautiful” transcended the British and Irish single airplay charts in 2012 and was awarded Best British Single during the Brit Awards.
The popularity of 1D did not just stop in the U.K.; the boys also made their way to the American market supported by a social media campaign. Their first album premiered on the Billboard album chart at the number one spot in 2012 and sold more than a million copies in The United States. The group has broadened the widespread of their success with the release of their sophomore album “Take Me Home” in November of the same year. This second studio album was awarded in American Music Awards as Favorite Album Pop/Rock and gained so much praise from the fans. On their 3rd hit album in 2013, “Midnight Memories,” the group was subject to a 3-D documentary concert-tour: “One Direction: This Is Us.”
A few years later, while on tour for album “Four,” the British-Irish boy band announced that Zayn Malik had left the group. The matter did not hinder the remaining lads to continue the tour.
In 2015, 1D announced their plan to go on an undetermined hiatus before “Made in the A.M.’s” release. After that, each member initiated to issue a solo album.
