'Star Trek' Fame Sonequa Martin-Green Welcomes Baby Girl
Sonequa Martin-Green and her husband Kenric Green welcomed a baby girl on Sunday. The Star Trek: Discovery star made the revelation on Tuesday, noting that they have named their daughter Saraiyah Chaunte Green.
In a lengthy, emotional message posted alongside a picture of the newborn baby, her husband, Martin-Green. Describing the event in the caption section of the post, she said it was a beautiful home birth, adding that both of their children have been born in the water.
While Martin-Green admitted that they never felt anything was missing, the actress said now that their new baby girl is here, they feel a perfect sense of completeness. The couple named their daughter Saraiyah Chaunte Green and noted that the name comprises her mother's initials and middle name.
Martin-Green described her as being utterly perfect, like her brother. She thanked Yeshua for the final piece of their Love-given puzzle, she wrote. The couple welcomed their son Kenric Justin Green II together back in 2015. She announced she was expecting their second baby together in March.
Making the announcement on Instagram at the time, Martin-Green wrote they were gearing up to add another passenger to the Green train, which is fueled by Love and they are already overflowing with it for the baby no. 2.
The Walking Dead star opened up about motherhood in the Nov. 2015 issue of Good Housekeeping, revealing that she melts every time someone mentions that she is a mother now, and deemed the experience as profound and enlightening.
She described the experience of someone coming from you as divine, particularly since you are responsible for their livelihood and nurturing them. Baby Saraiyah is her second child with husband Kenric Green, who also shares a son Kenric II, who is 5 years old.
Of the four pictures, Martin-Green posted to her Instagram account, three shows them holding her baby after birth, and one with her husband holding Saraiyah while Kenric can be seen celebrating.
This baby news comes during a busy week for the actress, with Discovery’s season three premiere slated to arrive in Oct. and the announcement of her being a part of the Amazon animated drama dubbed Invincible.
Star Trek: Discovery cast and crew including Gersha Phillips, Ethan Peck, and Wilson Cruz shared their best wishes. The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang said the newborn baby is "perfection," and congratulated the couple on their second baby together in the comments section of her Instagram post.
