Nathan Fillion Keeps On Inviting 'Firefly' Co-Stars To Appear On 'The Rookie'
The virtual Comic-Con ongoing event is making headlines as stars revealed their stories related to work and personal life. This time, it is Nathan Fillion who invited his co-stars from Firefly on July 26.
The panel was joined by the stars Alan Tudyk and Gina Torres, including the producer Joss Whedon. The discussion was helm by the writer Alexi Hawley, who is also responsible for the comedy police procedural series, The Rookie. The conversation was supposed to be about the 49-year-old actor's career and his life.
However, things changed quickly and it became about celebrating the co-stars during the discussion. The panel, also, had Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever who was starred along with Fillion in Castle. In fact, Mekia Cox who worked on The Rookie also joined the panel.
Fillion shared his experience working on The Rookie that aired on ABC. The actor recalled some interesting events where his former co-stars made a guest appearance such as Tudyk, Dever, and Huertas. The actor called these events as mini-reunions, which he immensely enjoyed.
The actor had fun during the conversation and picked up on a fellow cast member, Torres. Fillion asked her if she is interested in being a part of the show while she has already roped in for the upcoming season. Torres answered him positively and said that Fillion has to stay longer on the show unlike he did on Castle.
The 51-year-old actress reminded Fillion when she entered the Castle during the fifth season, he "bailed". On the other hand, Tudyk also has already been a part of the second season of The Rookie and portrayed Ellroy Basso's character.
Basso played a cleanup expert of the crime-scene, mild-mannered, and a technically sound person who knows how to operate bioremediation. His character was extremely important as in one of the scenes, Basso and Fillion's character John Nolan came together to clean a crime scene.
However, the cleaning process takes an unexpected turn. Tudyk mentioned during the interview that his character is still alive and had a romantic relationship as episode 8 concluded. Fillion quickly took the opportunity to invite his former co-star back on the series.
"We should revisit that. That event in your character's life was so transformative he became a self-defense teacher," Fillion said. It seemed that Fillion's pitch to get his former co-stars of Firefly back to The Rookie series is not going to stop unless he succeeds.
