BTS Dominates Top Three Of Billboard's World Albums Chart
The BTS’ boys have always been on top!
South Korean idols, BTS, rule the top three ranks on Billboard’s World Albums chart dated July 25. The domination of the Korean nonet is due to the group’s recent album release entitled Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey.
In a report by Billboard, referencing Nielsen Music Data for July 16, the album finishes in the No. 2 spot with a total of 8,000 units sold in the U.S., which leads to the all-boy group to acclaim their thirteenth top five World Albums list.
Per Republic World, BTS is now the first Korean boy group to gain domination in the said chart.
No doubt, BTS is breaking records globally!
The Bangtan Boys’ previous album, Map of the Soul: 7, released in February, sits on the Billboard throne for seventeen weeks. Also, Map of the Soul: 7 garnered approximately 13,000 units sold. Upon the release, the album skyrocketed its way up to the No. 1 spot on both all-genre Billboard 200 and World Albums. The figures that date March 7 has a total of 422,000 units.
The ranking of BTS comes after late rapper Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die release and the After Hours album by The Weeknd. The said album also bears the banner of being the third biggest debut week of the year.
On the other hand, BTS’ 2018 album Love Yourself: Answer ranks third on the World Albums chart with 7,000 units. The chart-topping album has ruled for thirty-one weeks at the No. 1 spot. The success of Love Yourself: Answer is the Korean idol’s highest achievement in the Billboard charts.
Since the launch of the music industry standard record firm, Billboard, in 1990, no one has ever gained dominance over the World Albums chart for a record stretched to twenty-nine weeks.
Joining Map of the Soul 7 – The Journey is BTS previous albums, 2019’s Map of the Soul: Persona on No. 6, 2018’s Love Yourself: Tear on No. 9, 2017’s Love Yourself: Her extended play on No. 11, and 2019’s BTS World on No. 14.
Meanwhile, the all-boy K-pop band that consists of RM, Suga, J-hope, V, Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook, is still soaring as high as an eagle in the Billboard charts, extending their 21st No. 1 title on the World Digital Song Sales chart. Their latest Japanese track titled Your Eyes Tell sold over 8,000 units since its release. BTS currently has fifteen songs on Billboard charts, eleven of which is from their fourth Japanese album Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey.
