The global coronavirus pandemic certainly does not discriminate when it comes to infections, as both normal people and celebrities alike have revealed their own positive diagnoses. The most recent celebrity to do so is Pitch Perfect star Anna Camp.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the 37-year-old actress made the revelation on her Instagram, alongside a photo of her wearing a mask. In the caption, Camp reveals she caught and has tested positive for the coronavirus three weeks ago after not wearing a mask once.

The actress says that, before that incident of not wearing a mask, she had been religiously washing her hands and using sanitizer. She had only decided not to wear a mask when closures brought about by the pandemic were being slowly lifted and yet ended up getting the disease.

USA Today quotes the actress as saying that she felt extremely sick for three weeks, even losing her sense of smell and taste as some people who have contracted the coronavirus have reported experiencing. While she has tested negative for it now, Camp said the experience was stressful and panic-inducing.

Camp also argued against the belief of some people that the coronavirus is just like the ordinary flu, saying that it was very disconcerting to lose both her sense of taste and smell without any assurance that she would be getting them back. She also pointed out that, until now, nobody knows what the long-term effect the coronavirus could have on the body.

Camp ended her caption with an admonishment to wear masks, saying that she did not want anybody else to go through what she did in the past three weeks. She noted how easy it is to simply wear a mask and how big of an effect that little thing could have.

Numerous other celebrities have also tested positive for the coronavirus aside from Camp. The most recent ones to test positive were three generations of Bollywood royalty -- actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Amitabh Bachchan.

While initially only father and son pair Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan had to be hospitalized for the coronavirus, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her eight-year-old daughter Aaradhya have now also been hospitalized due to the disease.

Other celebrities that have come out with positive coronavirus diagnoses include actors Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Ali Wentworth, Olga Kurylenko, Kristofer Hivju, Idris Elba; singer Marianne Faithfull, reality star Todd Chrisley, television host Andy Cohen, and news anchors Chris Cuomo and George Stephanopoulos.

It also looks like more and more people will still end up getting infected with the coronavirus, as numbers from both the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that the pandemic is not slowing down in any way.

The World Health Organization’s situation report for July 21, for instance, shows that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases globally is now at 14,562,550 people. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 is now at 607,781.

In the United States, the July 21 update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention puts the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 3,819,139 people. Fatalities caused by COVID-19 are now at 140,630 people.
