Actress Lucy Hale opened up about her awkward experience regarding Fifty Shades of Grey which was released in 2015. The Pretty Little Liars star revealed her audition moments in detail that became an unpleasant experience at that time. However, it seems eventually she appreciated the process.

In an interview with The Associated Press, the 31-year-old actress said that she was quite young when she auditioned for the female lead character named Anastasia Steele. The movie is an E.L. James' romantic and erotic novel's adaptation.

Hale explained that it didn't happen a decade ago but a few years back when she was in her mid-20s. However, the audition was mortifying for the actress. As the casting of the film started in 2013 and many female celebrities auditioned for the role. However, Dakota Johnson eventually got the role.

Hale disclosed that the scene provided for the audition wasn't included in the film. The audition scene involved a monologue which she was asked to deliver in a sexual way. The actress called herself naive as she didn't know what all she said in the audition at that time.

However, A Nice Girl Like You star didn't land for the role but she acknowledged that the auditioning process helped her to become a better professional and actress. She explained that the audition scared her so much that it turned out to be beneficial for her future work.

In an interview with MTV News, Hale had shared details about the monologue in 2014. She said that she was the only person in the audition room with a two-page script that had an explicit monologue. "Very uncomfortable. But it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you're just gonna look lame -- hopefully, I didn't look lame," she added.

Hale further revealed that in the scene she had to tell her friends about the illicit affair with details. She had to explain to her friends the minor things that she did with the man and it included the word "sperm" numerous times.

According to Hale, she rejected the role and not the other way around. She told the casting people that she is not sure about the role and she has to reach her grandparents' place for a couple of months as it was Christmas time. She further explained that she is not sure about going forward with the project.
