Evan Rachel Wood, Cameron Boyce, Mila Jovovich and More Child Stars Shares Their Bitter Truth In Showbiz Kids
Showbiz Kids is the latest documentary that allowed Hollywood child stars to share their experience. The documentary showcased the harsh reality of being a child artist and dealing with stardom. It also allows audiences to see the world through their lens.
Stars like Jada Pinkett Smith, Evan Rachel Wood, Todd Bridges, Wil Wheaton, Cameron Boyce, Henry Thomas, and Mila Jovovich shared the cost they have paid to fulfill either their dream or their parents' dream.
Wheaton revealed that he had to give up his childhood out of his choice. He was seen playing child actor in Stand By Me and Star Trek: The Next Generation. He became a household name overnight and that changed his life fundamentally.
Wheaton became a teenybopper idol in a teen magazine later, which he hated. He explained that everything he did was out of his comfort zone and had to act like a celebrity. Similarly, Wood mentioned her desire to play like other kids.
While Wood acknowledges that it was a fulfilling experience for her, she believed that made her lonely in real life. The Westworld actress shared that no matter how better she was performing onscreen; she didn't felt acceptable.
On the other hand, Wilson shared her story in which she felt having no control over her life as everybody knew her name. Now, the 32-year-old actress revealed that even after so many years, she has issues with trusting people.
"I remember Googling my own name, which was a terrible thing, and I saw people talking about photoshopped child porn of me. My parents tried to protect me from these dangers but I could sense them, and I knew that there were times when they just weren't going to be able to protect me," Wilson added.
Boyce who garnered popularity after got a role in Disney movies, died due to epilepsy in 2019. Boyce shared that broadcasting his real life was a struggle. He explained that having too much attention at a tender age and many responsibilities don't work well.
Another actress Jovovich was cast in Return to the Blue Lagoon at age of 15. She was criticized heavily for her adult nature. Jovovich recalled reading negative reviews about her and how badly it impacted her life.
Bridges spoke about his publicist who molested him as a kid. While his mother knew that he was being honest about the incident, his father took the publicist's side that ruined him.
