Johnny Depp’s Former Girlfriends Do Not Have To Testify In His Favor For This Reason
Johnny Depp’s former girlfriends Vanessa Paradis and Winona Ryder are not required to be present in the court as witnesses for him. For the universe, the actor has filed a lawsuit against News Group Newspapers.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star has filed a defamation suit after The Sun published a story in 2018 where it was mentioned that his former wife called him a “wife-beater.”
However, the actor has been going to the court for a little more than a week to defend himself against the allegations made by the outlet. He also presented many pieces of evidence to make a counterclaim that it was Heard who abused him physically.
Paradis and Ryder were initially supposed to act as witnesses and speak in favor of Depp in the libel lawsuit. However, the Alice in Wonderland actor’s advocate revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that these two actresses do not have to testify in the court now.
The reason for this is the outlet based in the United Kingdom did not contest the actor’s claim of being violent with the stars. While the actor’s former girlfriends do not have to testify in the court now, Ryder made a statement favoring her former boyfriend.
The Girl Interrupted star reinforced that it was important to speak from her perspective as she was not present in the same house where Johnny Depp lived with his then-wife. She revealed that she had a completely different experience with the actor. The actress mentioned that she was stunned after hearing such allegations were made against her ex-flame.
Even Paradis seemed to repeat similar sentiments and revealed that she was not abused while dating the actor. The actress said the allegation seems to be incorrect as she has known the actor personally for several years.
Paradis added that Depp was not abusive or violent with her. She feels such incorrect statements can not only be “distressing” for Depp but can also hurt his acting career. She feels it is unfortunate that many people have started believing those stories.
That actress feels what is more upsetting is that the actor has supported several people in his profession, as well as, personal life, “with kindness and generosity.”
The Lone Ranger star had earlier alleged Heard of exploiting their marriage so that she can boost her career. However, her lawyer has not accepted those accusations on behalf of his client.
Meanwhile, Heard had spoken to GQ’s Australia in the past and had an entirely different story to tell about her former spouse. She told the outlet she felt lucky that she was in a comfortable position after her split.
Amber Heard got married to Johnny Depp in 2015 but parted ways only two years later in 2017.
