Naya Rivera Spent Her Last Minutes Of Her Life Saving Her Son
Glee star Naya Rivera’s body was finally found after days of search. Investigators revealed that Naya Rivera spent the last minutes of her life saving her four-year-old son. Her body was located in the lake after five days of professional divers and officials started the mission.
Rivera went for boating with her son, Josey at Lake Piru in California. A press conference was held on July 13 in which Sheriff Bill Ayub of Ventura County described the information obtained by Josey.
The sheriff said that after having a conversation with Rivera's son, they learned that the mother and son went swimming in the lake. However, Josey remembers her mother helped him to get on the boat. When he turned around looking for her mother, she disappeared underwater.
The sheriff further explained that there are often lake currents in the afternoon. As per the authorities, Rivera went missing in the afternoon. "The idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored, and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself," he added.
The sheriff also clarified that they have found no proof to address this incident as suicide or foul play. The surgical procedure will be executed and on the basis of her dental records, Rivera will be recognized officially at the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The 33-year-old actress went missing since July 8 after a motorboat ride with her son. Jason was found sleeping alone by the authorities and declared missing immediately. The boat was found in the northern area of the lake which is called "The Narrows".
An employee came looking for the watercraft as it wasn't returned at the scheduled time. The employee described that the four-year-old was asleep wearing a life jacket and covered in a towel.
The authorities found an adult size life jacket on the motorboat. The investigators and sheriff spoke with the people who were present at the lake on the day when the incident occurred. Rivera's boat was seen multiple times at different locations and there were three more boats in the lake.
Reportedly, Lake Piru had many cases of drownings in the past. After Rivera went missing there are petitions being signed to put up a board to give heads up about the dangerous state of the lake. However, the sheriff admitted that swimming is not restricted in the lake.
