Sun Goddess Is Owned By Singer Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige, 49, has now ventured into the business art of wines through launching her very own wine bureau: Sun Goddess Wines. The fresh from the market wine business by Blige is in partnership with Italy’s distinguished Fantinel Winery: owned by a Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy based Fantinel family.
As The Drink Business, Blige’s originality for the name “Sun Goddess” is inspired from her childhood nickname given to her by her mother and her memories from her younger years enjoying the energy of the sun. “…it conveys the connection between nature and the personality of wines I enjoy the most," Blige said.
Sun Goddess Wines is personally curated by Blige herself and Fantinel Winery creating an exclusive collection of finite edition wines. To date, the Sun Goddess collection features two wines: pinot grigio ramato and a sauvignon blanc.
The pinot grigio ramato offers a taste of rosé that includes melon, peach, and blackberry relish; the complex and intense pinkish tinge expresses a full bodied and elegant crisp to the after taste. Meanwhile, the sauvignon blanc is aromatically intense that is velvet-textured, finished with tropical notes of spicy yellow bell pepper, melon, and banana.
As what HollywoodReporter wrote, Blige was introduced by her dear friend, R&B singer Maxwell, to Marco Fantinel, speaking to him as the best producer of pinot grigio. Since then, Blige took the chance in tasting the Fantinel’s wine at their vineyard feeling extremely connected to the place and people. Blige also expressed how her visit to the Fantinel vineyard sparked her urge in partnering with someone who shares the same passion with her. "...felt the same magical energy I have long tried to capture from the sun,” Blige said.
On the Fantinel’s side, Added Fantinel, Fantinel Winery CEO reciprocates Blige’s feeling towards creating something good from their partnership. Per Added, Blige is a creative icon whose strength and passion is very dominant even from day one. Added then expressed her thoughts to Blige being the “better” partner in collaboratively producing first class wines.
June 29, Blige took on Instagram announcing her new line of wine business, Sun Goddess, posting a photo of gold-crafted grapes placed in a gold silk. The photo also has Blige’s name and Fantinel’s business name at the bottom part.
