The culprit all finds guilty to be accused is the global pandemic caused by the coronavirus. As a result of the social unrest, on-location filming in Los Angeles became unreal and nonexistent. Physical distancing and wearing of masks is not enough to create a best craft when it comes to filming, because it requires interaction between actors and staffs.
With the coronavirus outbreak in California, the state has ordered the productions to temporarily cease any filming activities from March 20 to June 15. The shutdown effectively declined the overall production, making it as the lowest filming levels on record.
On Wednesday, FilmLA President Paul Audley said in a statement that the production is now starting to “responsibly” return. “…with advertising shoots, commercials and limited television production now coming online,” he added.
In line with Audley’s statement, FilmLA released the data for this year’s Q2 figures. Based on the data, they were only three days of shooting for films and zero shoot days for TV pilots and TV comedies. In addition, there were only nine shooting days for TV dramas and just thirty days for reality TV series. For commercial shoots, on the other hand, only got fifty-eight days, while three days for Web-based TV.
Per Deadline, the data released by FilmLA is only based on days of allowed production within its jurisdictions, and does not solely includes production worked on certified sound stages.
Good news was also made known to the firm in the latter dates of June: the state and local officials already permits the film production to resume its operations. FilmLA took the news delightedly and swore to be “gradual and cautious” upon their return.
With the new normal, FilmLA will follow the Health Orders mandated by the Country authorities, pertaining to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the state. To date, there are now 14 film permits being submitted per day, “Love in the Time of Corona” is one of the films said to shoot in Los Angeles.
