Kourtney Kardashian thinks there's a wide misconception about her decision to leave Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The Poosh founder addressed this big misconception about her in an attempt to clear it up.
In an interview with Vogue Arabia, Kourtney spoke about this misconception that revolves around her exit from the hit reality television series. She wanted to clarify why she opted not to be associated with KUWTK anymore, citing how the overall environment became toxic for her.
During season 17 of the show, it was quite evident that she was getting more frustrated about cameras following her everywhere, sharing her personal life with the audience. Kourtney was bent on to lower her involvement so she could have some sort of boundaries, but her sisters Khloe and Kim Kardashian didn't support the idea as they would need to film more to fill in for her absence, Showbiz CheatSheet reported.
In one episode, Kim pointed out that sharing their lives as part of the territory. She noted that the family's job is to be open and honest while sharing a major portion of themselves, adding that Kourtney has not been open about her personal life on camera for the past few years. The socialite said since Kourtney isn't filming enough, she and Khloe have to share more, cause if they are not sharing their lives, then the show is meaningless.
Towards the end of the season, Kourtney announced that she had reached her breaking point, and was no longer happy. In the season 17 finale, she admitted that she has reached the point where she is no longer happy, adding that everyone has their breaking point. She noted that life is short, and she doesn't want to spend it filming this show.
During her confessional interview, Kourtney said it wasn't Ok that she feels she was at her breaking and needed a break from filming. She went on to explain that she didn't want to have her life on display, and wanted to focus more on her kids and her lifestyle website.
In an interview with Vogue Arabia, Kourtney finally opened up about why she didn't want to be a part of the show anymore. The popular media personality explained that she has been filming the show for fourteen years without break, and was feeling so unfulfilled that it became a toxic environment for her to continue for her to have it occupy as major portion of her life as it was.
Clearing up the common misconception, Kourtney said her decision to quit KUWTK had nothing to do with not wanting to work, something she has faced criticism for in the past. She said people have misconceptions about her that she doesn't want to work, but all that she wants is to follow her happiness and put energy into what makes her happy.
