'The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina' Is Canceled
It looks like the magic has run out for the show The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as the streaming giant Netflix has announced that it would be canceling the series once it finishes airing Part Four in the latter half of the year.
Variety reports that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa made the announcement and expressed his gratitude towards Netflix at allowing them to freely tell the story that they wanted to tell. Aguirre-Sacasa also told audiences to look out for Part Four airing later this year.
According to Variety, the final eight episodes of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will feature the coven battling against the Eldritch Terrors that have descended upon the town of Greendale. Nick will also try to win back Sabrina’s heart in the final season of the series.
Deadline collected the reactions of the cast and crew on the cancelation, starting with series star Kiernan Shipka. The actress posted a photo on her Instagram with the caption “FINAL PART LETS GOOO WITCHES!!!!!!!”
On his Twitter, Aguirre-Sacasa said that he was so proud of the show as well as everyone that took part in creating the show.
Originally meant to air on The CW, this Riverdale spin-off eventually found its place on Netflix where it has currently aired three seasons or Parts as referred to by the streamer. The first Part had 11 episodes, while Part Two had nine episodes. Both Parts Three and Four have eight episodes.
The cancelation of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina isn’t the only big television news to happen over the past few months. One of the more shocking developments to the television landscape was Ruby Rose’s announcement that she would not be returning as Batwoman.
Rose did not provide a reason for her leaving the iconic role, but speculation has abounded. One rumor says Rose left Batwoman because of the two herniated discs she suffered while filming an action scene for the series. Yet another rumor says both Rose and the production were mutually unhappy at how the show was being filmed.
Since her departure, Rose has been replaced by Javicia Leslie, who will be the first Black bisexual actress to play the role of Batwoman. Leslie’s casting also makes good on the production’s promise to cast another member of the LGBTQ community in the role.
Leslie has expressed her pride at becoming the first Black actress to take on the role. She also revealed that she was honored as a bisexual woman to continue the show’s trailblazing for the LGBTQ community.
