‘Mission Impossible 2’ Actress Thandie Newton Reveals Why She Was Afraid Of Tom Cruise
Actress Thandie Newton made a stunning revelation as she revealed her shooting experience with Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 2, the lead actor of the film.
Newton acted with Hollywood superstar Cruise in Mission Impossible 2, which went on to become incredibly popular at the box office. However, the actress said she did not feel quite secure while filming for it. The Norbit actress said she was “scared of Tom.”
It seems when Newton and the Top Gun star were shooting a scene together and the shot did not go well, making Cruise extremely upset. The actress revealed that she had some bad lines once in a scene and Cruise was unhappy the way she was delivering it. Newton added that even the director could not be supportive as he could not speak English.
The Crash star said his co-star was “so frustrated” once that he even suggested they exchange their roles. She found the gesture not quite helpful. Cruise’s responses made her feel insecure and afraid.
When the day ended, she got in touch with Jonathan Demme, the filmmaker, and narrated her shooting experience with Cruise. Newton recalls that the filmmaker had been very kind and sweet to her.
When Cruise called her up and said they were going to reshoot the scene once again, the actress was expecting he had contacted her to regret his behavior. The next time when they shot the same scene, she understood what Cruise wanted and did her best. However she feels it is not the right way to extract the best performance from a co-star, VION reports.
Thandie Newton said while her co-star was not terrible, it looked like he was under tremendous stress to e liked. The actress feels that Tom Cruise is an extremely dominant person. Although he tries to be a nice individual, he takes on a lot of pressure.
Meanwhile, Mission Impossible 7 would resume shooting in September. The filming schedule was supposed to begin in February but had to be postponed amid the outbreak of COVID-19. Tom Cruise will be seen as Ethan Hunt, a secret agent once again in the film.
