Henry Cavill's Mustache Costs $25 Million To Shoot 'Justice League'
Movie making is an expensive art while making a film that includes a lot of special effects, costs a lot. While there are low-budget movies that earn well at the box office but that's a rare case. To create a blockbuster feature film, creators ensure that they have a revenue-generating movie in their bucket.
However, creators are aware of how to get money out of big-budget movies, from the special effects, perfect and trendy costumes, casting big stars, behind the scenes footage, and the list goes on. Similarly, while working on Justice League the filmmakers had to invest $25 million on a mustache.
While creators are happy to invest to gain income later, they don't really sign a check of any unreasonable amount without considering the budget. When the Justice League was being shot, creators got annoyed because they had to re-shoot scenes worth millions.
Zack Snyder worked on Justice League for a long time and everyone has been eagerly waiting it to premiere. The movie was about to complete and when Snyder faced a personal tragedy. His daughter committed suicide because of which he stepped out of the project.
Warner Brothers went on to hire Avengers' director, Joss Whedon to complete the unfinished movie. While Whedon finished the movie on time, it received heavy criticism. Once Whedon was on board to redirect the unfinished scenes, the 56-year-old director decided to reshoot many scenes that led Warner Brothers to invest more money to get the actors back and schedule their timings.
Henry Cavill, who portrayed the title character of Superman had already started working on a new film. The 37-year-old actor was hired for Mission: Impossible 6 that needed him to have a real mustache and to reshoot for Justice League the actor couldn't get rid of his mustache because of commitment issues.
However, Whedon went on and got approval from Warner Brothers to have this costly reshoot. With the help of the computer graphics, facial hair was removed with the intention of audiences not noticing the difference. Eventually, Warner Brothers end up paying almost triple the cost that is required to reshoot, and most of the money was spent on the mustache editing.
It seems there is good news around the corner for the fans as Snyder is back on the director's chair and recently teased his version of the movie. The movie is supposed to premiere directly on HBO Max, which is an online streaming platform.
