Adam Savage From 'Mythbusters' Denies Sexual Assault Allegations
The legal battle between Mythbusters host Adam Savage and his sister looks to be escalating as he has come out and denied the sexual assault allegations lobbed against him by his younger sister.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Savage has declared that he would fight the “groundless and offensive” lawsuit that his sister, Miranda Pacchiana, has filed against him under the New York Child Victims Act. Savage also revealed that he and other members of his family have been falsely attacked by his sister over the years, resulting in her estrangement from the rest of the family.
Savage and Pacchiana’s mother, Karen Savage, has also come out in support of Adam, saying that her daughter suffers from severe mental health challenges. She has said that she supports Adam completely.
E! Online details the contents of Pacchiana’s complaint, wherein she alleges that Savage called himself “the raping blob” and then forced himself on her. The complaint alleges that the sexual assault happened when she was between the ages of seven and 10 and Savage was between nine and 12 years old.
Pachianna’s lawyer said the lawsuit is so she can recover from the physical and emotional suffering she underwent as well as to protect other children and stop them from going through the same experience she went through.
Pacchiana has also blogged about the experience, saying that it destroyed her self-confidence and made her feel unsafe. She claimed that she suffered anxiety and periods of depression from the experience that she went through.
This sexual assault allegation against a celebrity is only the latest to crop up in the past few weeks. Just a couple of weeks ago, Ansel Elgort was accused by a Twitter user of sexual assault when she was a minor. As evidence, she provided a picture of herself with Elgort as well as screenshots of their messages to each other.
Around the same time Elgort was accused, Justin Beiber was also accused of sexual assault by two women. The first woman claimed she was assaulted by Bieber in a Four Seasons Hotel back in 2014 when Bieber attended the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. The second woman says Bieber assaulted her after the 2015 Met Gala.
Both Elgort and Bieber have come out to deny the allegations against them. Bieber has even filed suit against his accusers, calling their claims “outrageous, fabricated lies.” Bieber is suing both for defamation and is asking for $10 million in damages from each accuser, for a total of $20 million.
