'X-Men' Movies Coming To Disney+
There are going to be more superhero movies to stream on Disney+ as the platform recently announced that they would be releasing the X-Men movies on the platform over the next couple of weeks.
As Digital Spy reports, four X-Men movies will find themselves on the platform over the course of July to September. The four movies to be added to the platform are X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men Apocalypse, X-Men, and The Wolverine.
X-Men: Days of Future Past will premiere on July 10 while X-Men Apocalypse will debut on the platform on July 17. The first X-Men movie will be available on Disney+ on Aug. 7. Viewers can watch The Wolverine on Disney+ starting on Sept. 4.
The introduction of the X-Men films to Disney+ has been expected ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. Aside from the X-Men films, most of the Star Wars movies are now on the streaming service, with Solo: A Star Wars Story set to debut there as soon as it is out of Netflix.
Screen Rant points out that the X-Men movies are part of a “Summer Movie Nights” program from Disney+. Under “Summer Movie Nights,” the streaming service will premiere a new blockbuster movie on the platform.
Aside from the X-Men movies, the other films set to premiere under the “Summer Movie Nights” program include the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, The Greatest Showman, and Incredibles 2.
Beauty and the Beast will make its debut on the platform on Aug. 21. The Greatest Showman will premiere on Aug. 14 while Incredibles 2 will appear on Disney+ by July 31.
The X-Men movies will be joining another buzzed-about debut on Disney+, Black Is King. The visual album is written, directed, and executive produced by Beyoncé. The inspiration for Black Is King is the soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift, which Beyoncé herself curated.
The film will have special guest appearances as well as appearances from some of the artists from the album The Lion King: The Gift. The artists in that album include Wizkid, Childish Gambino, Shatta Wale, Yemi Alade, Jessie Reyez, Kendrick Lamar, Burna Boy, Tekno, Pharrell, Salatiel, Blue Ivy Carter, 070 Shake, Mr Eazi, Busiswa, Tierra Whack, Jay-Z, and Tiwa Savage.
These film debuts are likely to draw even more paid subscribers to the fledgling Disney service, which managed to grow its paid subscribers to 50 million during the global coronavirus pandemic.
Even more people will probably turn to streaming services like Disney+ as the global coronavirus pandemic continues to rage. According to the June 29 update from the World Health Organization, there are now 10,021,401 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the world. Deaths caused around by COVID-19 are now at 499,913 people.
