Princess Diana didn’t want to divorce Prince Charles even though she was aware that they weren’t a match and that he was cheating on her with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Royal expert Jenny Bond said that if Princess Diana had her way, she would’ve wanted to have a separated partnership with Prince Charles.

This set up means that the royal couple would live separate lives. However, they would put on a united front when they are out in public.

In the documentary Princess Diana, In Her Own Words, Bond said that the late royal was unsettled with the divorce because it’s not something that she wanted.

Princess Diana was also thinking about the welfare of her children, Prince William, and Prince Harry. This is why she thought that she and Prince Charles could continue being partners and parents to their sons while still living separate lives.

Until the end, Princess Diana tried to make her marriage work. But following her interview with Martin Bashir for Panorama, Queen Elizabeth put her foot down on the couple’s marriage. She urged Prince Charles and Princess Diana to finalize their separation, and they both didn’t have any say on the matter.

After their divorce was finalized, the Prince and Princess of Wales quietly sat on the couch and they reportedly cried together. During this time, the couple’s relationship has been more amicable, and they were genuinely sad for the end of their 15-year marriage.

Meanwhile, royal author Walter Oleksy told New Idea that Princess Diana’s problems with men started when she was still very young. He said that the Princess of Wales grew up with the mindset that her dad didn’t love her because she wasn’t a boy.

As she got older, Princess Diana had affairs with different men because she was looking for the right man. Unfortunately, some of the men that she dated gave her love, while others just used her.

Oleksy also claimed that Prince Charles only married Princess Diana so he could have children. And when the late royal failed to produce a daughter, Prince Charles was reportedly disappointed.

And the fact that Prince Charles didn’t want Prince Harry because he’s a boy haunted Princess Diana all her life. After all, she knew exactly what it feels like to be unwanted by a parent.

According to Oleksy, this is also why Princess Diana gave Prince Harry a little bit more love than Prince William. Because they were both unwanted children.
