What Are the Stars of Netflix's 'Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness' Doing Now?
Over the past few days, Netflix’s new documentary series, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness,” has captured the imagination of viewers in the United States. With its many colorful characters and numerous twists and turns, it’s no wonder viewers are curious about what has happened to all of them after the filming of the documentary series.
CNN has compiled where all the colorful characters of the documentary series are now, as well as what some of them think about how they were portrayed on the show.
The Tiger King himself, Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, is serving his 22 years in prison after being convicted of arranging murder-for-hire, among other charges. He is apparently seeking a presidential pardon and has also filed a lawsuit against multiple government agencies. He is seeking damages amounting to $94 million.
Meanwhile, the Tiger King’s nemesis, Carole Baskin, was disappointed in the series, refuting some of the claims made in the documentary with a blog post on her website. The post is 3,000 words long and repeats Baskin’s claim that she had no involvement with the disappearance of Don Lewis, her former husband.
John Finlay, Maldonado-Passage’s straight husband, now has a new set of teeth that replaced his missing ones from the show. He is now working as a welder and runs the Facebook page, “The Truth About John Finlay.”
Just like Baskin, Bhagavan “Doc” Antle was not impressed with the documentary. Antle had released a statement on his Instagram account but it was quickly deleted. In it, he says he was only included in the documentary to “create more buzz” because of him being a “high profile wildlife personality.”
Reality show producer Rick Kirkham is in Norway with his wife, according to a Facebook page that is supposedly his. In the documentary series, Kirkham planned to produce a reality show starring Maldonado-passage.
Finally, the Greater Wynnewood Zoo is still being run by Jeff Lowe and his wife Lauren. Later this year, Lower plans to open a zoo in Oklahoma.
“Tiger King” has truly been a phenomenon for Netflix. According to Variety, the documentary series emerged as the most-watched title in the United States for Mar. 29, based on Netflix’s own daily rankings. The documentary series also enjoys a 97 percent critic’s rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is equally impressive at 96 percent. Both these numbers place the series higher than Netflix’s third season of “Ozark,” USA Network’s fourth season of “Queen of the South,” and USA’s third season of “The Sinner.”
