Donald Trump has lashed out at George Clooney, branding the actor as "disloyal" and a "third-rate movie actor" following Clooney's public call for President Joe Biden to step down from the presidential race. The criticism came after Clooney's op-ed in The New York Times, where the actor urged Biden to consider stepping aside following his performance in the first presidential debate against Trump last month.

"I thought George Clooney was very disloyal because whether you like Biden or not, you know, he's been nice to Clooney. I thought it was very disloyal. Backstabber. A third-rate movie actor," Trump said, according to The Wrap. He added, "He was a television actor and never made a really good movie."

Clooney, a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party, recently called for a new nominee for the Democrats, just weeks after headlining a major fundraiser for Biden's reelection campaign. On June 15, Clooney hosted a record-breaking fundraiser for Biden, which raised at least $28 million.

In his op-ed, Clooney expressed his admiration for Biden but conveyed his concerns about the president's ability to win the upcoming election. "I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he's won many of the battles he's faced," Clooney wrote.

He continued, "But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate."

Clooney further argued, "We are not going to win in November with this president. On top of that, we won't win the House, and we're going to lose the Senate. This isn't only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor who I've spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly."

Clooney's call for Biden to withdraw from the race has sparked a mixed response. Some agree with the actor's assessment, while others have criticized him for his remarks. Trump, unsurprisingly, was among the critics. Social media reactions have varied, with some expressing frustration over Clooney's timing and questioning the impact of his comments.

One user commented, "With George Clooney publicly asking for Biden to step down, will he pay back the $30 million to the donors he conned into giving Joe just 3 weeks ago? Frauds." Another sarcastically added, "What a hero George Clooney is for coming forward 3 weeks after his fundraiser to declare Joe Biden a vegetable #Clooney."

Despite the backlash, Biden continues to receive support from his base. One supporter wrote, "The voters have not turned their back on my President Biden. The voters still support Biden. The George Clooney's of the world did not stop to ask us. We still support #BidenHarris2024."

Whoopi Goldberg also voiced her unwavering support for Biden on an episode of "The View," stating, "I don't care if he's pooped his pants, I don't care if he can't put a sentence together. Show me he can't do the job, and I'll say, okay, maybe it's time to go."
