In the world of Hollywood, where the lines between reel and real often blur, it's not uncommon for actors to share intimate moments on screen. However, when those moments aren't scripted, they can lead to real-life confrontations. Such was the case with Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and comedian Tommy Davidson.

The Unscripted Kiss

During a recent episode of Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay" podcast, Tommy Davidson shed light on an incident from the past that had remained largely under wraps. Davidson, who co-starred with Jada Pinkett Smith in the 1998 romantic-comedy Woo, shared an unscripted kiss with her during filming. This spontaneous act didn't sit well with Will Smith, who confronted Davidson about it.

Recalling the incident, Davidson said, "He came into the trailer, and I was sitting down. He’s standing over me, and he’s like, ‘I don’t appreciate that, man. I don’t appreciate that.’ And I’m like, ‘What you talking about?’" Davidson played it cool, trying to understand the root of Smith's concern. The tension was palpable, with Smith repeatedly expressing his displeasure and Pinkett Smith attempting to mediate.

Davidson humorously recounted the height difference during their confrontation, noting that since he was seated and Smith was standing, he felt the need to stand up too, jesting about the "physics" of the situation. The comedian suggested they discuss the matter privately, but Pinkett Smith intervened, effectively ending the confrontation.

A History of Protectiveness

This isn't the first time the Bad Boys actor has displayed protectiveness over his wife. The world witnessed a more recent and public display of this at the 2022 Oscars. Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage after Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith's shaved head, unaware that it was due to her battle with alopecia. The incident led to significant repercussions for Smith, who, despite winning an Academy Award that night, later resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was also banned from attending the Oscars for the next decade.

A Complex Relationship

The Smiths have been in the limelight for various reasons, from their individual careers to their personal lives. It was recently revealed that the couple had been separated since 2016. Despite this, Pinkett Smith has spoken about their deep bond and commitment to each other. In her words, they've been "doing some really heavy-duty work together" and share a "deep love for each other." By 2016, they felt "exhausted with trying." Pinkett Smith elaborated on their decision to remain married, stating, "I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. I just haven't been able to break that promise."
