Kate Gosselin and Son Collin's Tensions Rise Amid Accusations
In a recent public showdown, Kate Gosselin, the reality TV mom known for her show "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," and her son Collin, 19, have become embroiled in intense disputes. Collin's allegations of childhood abuse at Kate's hands have reignited familial tensions, with the 19-year-old laying out these accusations during a VICE TV episode on "Dark Side of the 2000s."
Responding with fervor, Kate labeled her son as “unpredictable” and “violent.” She explained her stance, stating, “My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years.” She added that his previous diagnoses and associated behaviors prompted his placement in a specialized facility in Philadelphia from 2016 to 2018, emphasizing it was for "the safety of myself, his brothers, and sisters."
Collin's stay in the institution came to an end when his father, Jon Gosselin, 46, secured his release and subsequently won custody of both Collin and his sister, Hannah. Kate has criticized this move, noting her concerns about Collin's behavior and asserting its continued erratic nature. “Unfortunately, I believe Collin remains a very troubled young man who continues to need a lot of help," Kate commented.
Backing Kate's assertions, Mady Gosselin, 22, Collin's elder sister, shared her own allegations of “physical violence and hate speech” against Collin via social media.
Jon, on the other hand, perceives Kate's comments as attempts to “justify her inexcusable horrific past behavior toward him.” He further shared that Collin had been approved to join the Marines after an exhaustive background check, which included evaluations of his mental and physical health. "The full diagnoses clearly reflects the truth,” Jon emphasized.
This ongoing dispute adds another layer to the long-standing issues between the Gosselin family members, emphasizing the complexities and challenges of their interpersonal relationships.
