Will Smith and Kevin Hart Mimic Tom Cruise's 'Close Talker' Tendencies in a Lighthearted Roast
In a recent episode of the Peacock series 'Hart To Heart,' Hollywood A-listers Will Smith and Kevin Hart shared some amusing insights about their fellow actor, Tom Cruise. The duo humorously mimicked Cruise's intense conversational style, which they described as being a 'close talker.'
Smith confessed that he once tried to match Cruise's level of promotional fervor before the release of one of his big movies. "I was trying to outdo Tom Cruise in terms of promotion," the 'Men in Black' star admitted. Hart chimed in, noting the 'Jerry McGuire' alum's competitive nature, "He's so f------ competitive!"
The two actors then demonstrated Cruise's close-talking habit. "Tom talks right here," Hart said, holding a hand directly to his face. Smith leaned in closer to Hart and began to do impressions of Cruise, causing laughter.
Hart revealed that he was initially taken aback by Cruise's intense conversational style. "I said it respectfully to Tom because he scared me when he first did it," Hart shared. Smith added that his reaction has always been to "try to laugh and cross your arms."
Smith, 54, explained that Cruise's passionate approach to conversation stems from his desire for others to understand and feel what he's talking about. "He just wants you to understand what he says," Smith said. "He just wants you to feel what he's talking about."
Cruise's intensity isn't limited to his conversations. The 61-year-old actor is known for his dedication to his craft and his love for the "pressure" of his job. In a recent interview, Cruise admitted that he enjoys the challenges of his work and applies his personal interests, such as singing, dancing, motorcycles, cars, skydiving, and speed-flying, to his roles.
"The hours that I work, I work seven days a week, and I'm producing and everything that we are dealing with during this time period. I have to say I enjoy the pressure, I do enjoy the challenge," Cruise stated.
In the end, Smith and Hart's playful roast of Cruise served as a testament to the actor's unique personality and unwavering dedication to his craft.
