Lizzo's Legal Battle Intensifies: More Accusers Emerge Amid Dancers' Lawsuit
In the wake of a lawsuit filed by three former dancers against the renowned singer Lizzo, the attorney representing the trio has revealed that more individuals have come forward with similar allegations. The dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, have accused Lizzo of fostering a "hostile, abusive work environment" and making the "conditions intolerable."
Ron Zambrano, the attorney representing the dancers, stated that since the lawsuit was filed, his office has received additional calls about the singer. He explained that people are coming forward, saying, "you know what, I went through that." Zambrano initially had his doubts when the dancers approached him with their claims against Lizzo, her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. (BGBT), and dance captain Shirlene Quigley. However, after hearing their stories, he believed them.
Among those who have come forward is dancer Courtney Hollinquest, who recently shared a headline about the trio's accusations on her Instagram Stories, claiming that her experience was similar. Director Sophia Nahli Allison also spoke out against the "Good as Hell" hitmaker, revealing that she "walked away" from directing a documentary about Lizzo due to allegedly being "treated with such disrespect by [Lizzo]."
During an interview with Newsmax host Chris Cuomo, Zambrano addressed a newly surfaced video tape showing Davis praising her work with Lizzo. Cuomo suggested that the video cast doubt on their claims, to which Zambrano responded that the video was filmed before most of the allegations in the complaint occurred.
Lizzo has since broken her silence, denying the allegations in a statement. She expressed her disappointment and defended her work ethic, morals, and respectfulness. She also stated that she is open about her sexuality and self-expression but will not allow people to use that openness to portray her as something she is not.
Zambrano responded to Lizzo's statement, asserting that she allowed the alleged hostile environment to exist. He argued that while Lizzo may be open about her sexuality, it should not be something that employees have to deal with in a workplace. As the legal battle continues, it remains to be seen how these allegations will impact Lizzo's career and reputation.
