Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello, a power couple once beloved by Hollywood, have announced their separation. Insiders claim that Vergara's vibrant social life and Manganiello's sobriety efforts clashed, leading to the breakdown of their marriage.

Manganiello, the 46-year-old Magic Mike star, continues to have affection for the 51-year-old Modern Family actress despite the split. However, her social habits posed a threat to his sobriety, say insiders. "Sofía was always supportive of Joe’s sobriety but she enjoyed her nights on the town too much for him to hang on any longer,” an anonymous source revealed.

For years, Manganiello accompanied Vergara on her social outings out of love for her. However, as he continued his journey of sobriety, his interests shifted. “His idea of a good time is to hit the gym, then chill in front of the TV or hang with his buddies at a Dungeons and Dragons game. For Sofía, that’s just boring and geeky!” confided an insider.

Dr. Gregory A. Smith, CEO and medical director of Red Pill Medical, though not directly involved with Manganiello's treatment, opined on the situation. He explained that for those maintaining long-term sobriety, it's best to avoid being around a spouse who is still drinking.

On July 18, the couple shocked fans with their divorce announcement after seven years of marriage. They stated: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

However, those close to the couple were less surprised. Vergara attended co-star Sarah Hyland's Hollywood wedding solo last summer and hosted a Fourth of July party sans Manganiello. She celebrated her 51st birthday with a girls-only trip to Italy. Manganiello's impersonal birthday message to Vergara on Instagram further signaled the growing distance between them, stirring speculation among fans.

Sources indicate that their marital problems extended beyond their social lifestyle. “Sofía is a feisty, high-maintenance character and it got too much for Joe trying to be something he wasn’t,” a source disclosed. In the wake of the split, Manganiello is reportedly looking to retreat from Beverly Hills and lead a quieter life.
