Taylor Swift is taking full advantage of her massive social media platform to combat racial injustice. The 30-year-old singer recently took to her Twitter handle to share her thoughts about the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.
Taylor Swift is going toe-to-toe with racial injustice with the help of her colossal social media platform. The popular singer shared her feeling about the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement via a tweet, encouraging her followers to demand mail-in voting for the impending presidential election.
Swift has a reputation for being vocal about her opinion on politics so it was hardly surprising when she called out the racial injustice that has been deeply ingrained into the state and local governments, recommending that it is time to bring in the change. Furthermore, she noted that to bring in policies that will pave the way for the "change", people need to select a leader who will fight against any kind of racism and police brutality.
In the same thread of tweets, she linked an article that was written by former President of the United States, Barack Obama that consists of details about the policy that can change at local as well as state level. Obama wrote about how this moment can become a turning point in our lives to being the "real change".
The Audacity of Hope author called the protests that are going on across the country as "legitimate frustration" that had built over decades due to failed police policies and broader criminal justice system.
Swift encouraged her fans to vote in the month of November and said how citizens need to "fight for mail-in voting," as a group of people is discouraged to step out due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The Lover singer further said that no one should get in the dilemma to either choose their voice to be heard or health as mail-in voting will help to solve this issue.
The singer had shared the VOTE.org website by adding an image that reads "everything you need to vote". Even before this outrage, the Grammy-winner had shared her anger on President Trump's tweets related to protesters and riots going on in Minneapolis because of George Floyd's murder by a white police officer.
As Trump used his violent rhetoric and suggested the police officials to "shoot" anyone who does loot. In fact, at that moment he called these protestors "THUGS" who are dishonoring George Floyd's memory and he won't let it happen.
Swift replied Trump by questioning that after "stoking the fires" of racism and white supremacy in his entire presidency, he still got "nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?" She further asked that in case the looting will start then the shooting will also start? and said that he will be voted out in November.
