Britney Spears Faces Alleged Assault Incident With Basketball Star's Bodyguard: No Charges Filed in Unexpected Turn of Events
An incident involving Britney Spears being allegedly assaulted by a bodyguard of basketball star Victor Wembanayama has come into the limelight as a video of the event was recently made public.
On the 7th (local time), a video released by a foreign media outlet showed Britney Spears recognizing Victor Wembanayama and excitedly following him. Due to Wembanayama's towering height, Spears patted his back to gain his attention, only to be met with a hand from a bodyguard.
The bodyguard's hand seemingly struck Britney Spears' face directly. In the sudden commotion, Wembanayama seemed to glance back briefly, but continued on his way while Spears sought comfort in her husband, Sam Asghari's arms. However, the situation differed from initial reports suggesting Spears had fallen to the ground.
Britney Spears previously stated on social media, "Trauma isn't new to me, but I wasn't prepared for what happened to me last night. I recognized a player in the hotel lobby on my way to dinner and wanted to congratulate him on his success. The noise was so loud that I merely tapped his shoulder. I did not grab him."
She went on to say, "His bodyguard hit my face. I was surrounded by about 20 fans at the time. My people didn't attack anyone. I feel very embarrassed to talk about this, but I feel like I need to. Public figures should set an example and respect everyone."
In response to this, Victor Wembanayama clarified in a media interview on the 6th (local time), "I was just walking and heard someone yell 'don't stop.' But I didn't see what happened. However, she (Britney Spears) didn't grab my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind. So, I believe that's why the bodyguard pushed her away."
Despite this, Britney Spears' team reported Victor Wembanayama's bodyguard to the police on suspicion of assault. However, Las Vegas police officials dismissed this emergency report. The media informed, "This decision was made because it did not appear that the bodyguard intentionally hit Britney Spears."
Britney Spears made her debut in 1999 with 'Baby One More Time,' establishing her status as a pop icon. Forming a rivalry with Christina Aguilera, she has received immense love from music fans. She is currently dating Sam Asghari, who is 12 years younger. She also has two sons from her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
