Kate Middleton's assertive role in shaping Buckingham Palace's reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey has positioned her in a new "boss girl era," according to a royal analyst.

During a recent TalkTV program, Cristo Foufas and royal commentator Kinsey Schofield delved into the Duchess of Cambridge's purported integral role in the palace's handling of the Sussexes' claims made in their explosive interview. The conversation revived after an updated version of "Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown" by journalist and royal author Valentine Low, alleged that Middleton was instrumental in advocating for the inclusion of the phrase "recollections may vary" in the official palace statement.

"Catherine is revealing her 'boss girl era', showing a more assertive side during these challenging times," Schofield commented on Middleton's alleged insistence on strengthening the palace's stance. Foufas shared this sentiment, concurring that the particular line became a hallmark of the royal statement, creating ripples of significance after the Sussexes' interview. He termed it as "masterfully understated yet potent."

Foufas went on to interpret the phrase, "While our recollections may vary, it subtly communicates a doubt in their narrative, subtly suggesting that they might not entirely buy into the Sussexes' account of events."

Schofield revealed that Low had previously hinted at this revelation during her appearance on Schofield's podcast, "To Di For Daily."

Schofield noted, "We are learning that the most memorable part of the post-Oprah Winfrey interview statement, 'recollections may vary,' was recommended by a newly hired staff member of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge."

Reportedly, the individual had only been employed by Prince William and Catherine for three weeks when the statement was crafted. According to Low, there was intense discussion about whether to retain that phrase in the palace's official response. However, the future king and queen consort, specifically Middleton, advocated for its inclusion.

Schofield shared, "Catherine played a decisive role in keeping 'recollections may vary' in the statement. She believed this moment would be remembered in history and that they needed to present a firmer response."

However, International Business Times has been unable to independently confirm this information.

Following their departure from royal duties and relocation to California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle participated in a candid interview with Winfrey in March 2021. The couple alleged that an unnamed royal family member had expressed concerns about the skin color of their then-unborn child.

After the broadcast of the interview, the palace acknowledged the serious allegations and expressed sadness at the couple's difficulties. They also included the now-famous phrase, underlining the potentially different perspectives on the matter, and reaffirmed their love for Harry, Meghan, and Archie.
