American actor Jon Bernthal, known for his roles in "The Punisher" and "The Walking Dead," has recently fired back at Rosie O'Donnell for her public accusations that his disapproving attitude led to the downfall of their Showtime series, "American Gigolo," after a single season, insiders reveal.

"Jon is firm that Rosie lacks insight into his professional motivations as an actor," confided a close acquaintance. "Her incessant commentary on the set annoyed him, and now she believes she has the authority to speak on his behalf. Jon views the show's cancellation as a chance to escape the strained dynamics with Rosie."

Bernthal, 46, and the former "The View" co-host, 61, shared the screen in the television adaptation of the iconic 1980 film, "American Gigolo," which was the springboard for Richard Gere's stardom.

Following the abrupt cancellation of the series, O'Donnell, also recognized for her role in "A League of Their Own," did not shy away from pointing the finger at her former co-star.

"Jon Bernthal was evidently unsatisfied with the show, which made it challenging to work on set. He disliked the fact that his character was a gigolo, despite the show's title, 'American Gigolo'," O'Donnell complained.

In the past, Bernthal acknowledged his reservations about his unconventional looks and questioned his suitability for the role of a charming lady-killer. Nevertheless, insiders reveal, he takes issue with O'Donnell's public critiques.

An insider affirmed, "Rosie doesn't hold back when expressing her views, despite her own sensitive nature. She recently confessed her distrust towards fellow comedian and friend Ellen DeGeneres, claiming Ellen hurt her feelings during a television interview."

According to the source, O'Donnell does not hesitate to express her thoughts at work, disregarding potential sensitivity. As the source put it, "She's past the point of carefully treading around others' sentiments. She's known for calling things as she sees them."

National Enquirer reported on the source's comments.
