Rumors are swirling that Taylor Swift declined an invitation from Meghan Markle to be a guest on the now-defunct Spotify podcast, "Archetypes." This alleged snub has sparked a flurry of reactions on Twitter.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Duchess of Sussex extended a personal invitation to the Grammy-winning singer. However, the report suggests that Swift, known for her hit "Shake It Off", did not respond directly but had a representative respectfully decline the offer.

While Markle and Swift have not publicly commented on the matter, Twitter users have been vociferously voicing their opinions.

One supportive tweet praised Swift's discernment: "Gee, Taylor apparently values her time, how refreshing," followed by a laughing emoji. Another user concurred, "Smart move by Taylor!"

Some tweets lauded Swift for supposedly distancing herself from the ongoing controversies surrounding Markle and Prince Harry. A user applauded, "Props to [Taylor] for refusing to be associated with the negativity and drama that is Meghan Markle and Harry Windsor."

Certain Twitter users conjectured about Swift's loyalty to the Royal Family, with some suggesting she aligns more with Prince William and Kate Middleton than the Sussexes. "Taylor is definitely team William. She prefers class to trash," one tweet asserted, referring to a past video of Swift performing "Livin' on a Prayer" alongside Prince William and Jon Bon Jovi.

Others doubted the veracity of the news, with one user stating, "Story is made up. Just like the Dior story." Another concurred, "I only see British media posting this, so it's probably a lie like everything else they post."

Several tweeters insisted that the situation wasn't dramatic and both women were justified in their actions. One user rationalized, "Normalize someone being able to say 'no' and it being okay. 'Snubbed' is unnecessary." Another added, "I don't see why people are making a big deal of this. Taylor hardly does interviews and certainly doesn't do podcasts."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Spotify decided earlier this month to end their multi-year, multi-million dollar contract, leading to the discontinuation of Markle's "Archetypes" podcast. Following this parting, Markle faced accusations of fabricating interviews for her show. Critics claimed that Markle's questions were edited in after the guests had been interviewed by producers.

However, Andy Cohen, a guest on the podcast's final episode, came to Markle's defense. He dispelled the rumors in an interview with Us Weekly, asserting, "Of course, I [spoke with Meghan]. And she definitely [interviewed me]. That's an insane rumor." He added, "Her podcast is conversations with people. How would she not have, of course she did."
