In a private agreement, Hunter Biden, the president's son, has resolved a child support disagreement with his former partner, Lunden Roberts, in Arkansas, according to a close source.

Roberts, 32, mother to Hunter's previously unacknowledged four-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, consented to a reduction in her $20,000 monthly child support after appearing in person at Hunter's deposition in Little Rock last week.

Clint Lancaster, Roberts’ attorney, late Thursday declined to verify whether his client had agreed to the lesser monthly payment of $5,000 and stated that the final terms were still under consideration.

Lancaster stated that, given the case's sealed status, financial conditions of the agreement should not be disclosed. He cautioned against any leaks regarding the settlement details as it might risk canceling ongoing negotiations and resulting in Hunter reappearing in an Arkansas court on July 11.

The lawyer pointed out that Roberts' presence at Hunter's deposition was notable, stating, "I believe that settlement is important to Hunter Biden [but] we have concerns that Hunter would use [the settlement] as a means to promote some agenda of his… There’s always more that goes on in settlement negotiations than people realize.”

In 2019, despite initial denials, a DNA test confirmed Hunter, 53, to be the father of Navy Joan Roberts.

In a peculiar move, Hunter, citing dwindling finances, petitioned a Batesville, Arkansas court to decrease his child support payments last year, arriving in town in a friend’s private jet.

Lancaster expressed faith in Roberts' abilities as a mother, saying, "The kid has lots of love on the maternal side of the family in Batesville. They are a very, very close family. They adore her and are always going to support her… But I think everybody is disappointed that there’s not more contact [with the Biden family].

During the legal proceedings, Lancaster filed a contempt motion against the president's son for not providing all requested financial documents to demonstrate his financial distress.

Roberts and Hunter met in 2017 at a Washington, D.C. strip club, where she worked while attending college. During their affair, she was included in the payroll of Hunter's company for nine months, a period when Hunter was also involved with his sister-in-law, Hallie, whose husband had recently passed away.

Hunter professed in his memoir, "Beautiful Things," that he had "no recollection of our encounter." President Biden and first lady Jill Biden have never acknowledged their seventh grandchild publicly.

On the same day as the settlement, federal prosecutors in Delaware announced Hunter's agreement to plead guilty to federal tax charges as part of a deal with the Justice Department, potentially sparing him jail time. As part of the agreement, Biden's son will admit to misdemeanor counts of deliberate failure to pay federal income tax for 2017 and 2018, as well as entering a pre-trial diversion on a felony gun possession charge.
