Smokey Robinson's Love Triangle: A Music Legend's Affair and Texas' Growing Wild Hog Nightmare
In a surprising confession, music legend Smokey Robinson has revealed a secret affair with fellow Motown icon, Diana Ross, during his 25-year marriage to his first wife, Claudette Rogers. Concurrently, Texas is grappling with an unexpected crisis of its own - a rapidly growing population of wild pigs causing destruction and fear among its residents.
Now 83, Robinson, famed for hits like "Tears of a Clown," admitted to an intimate year-long relationship with the "Endless Love" singer Ross during the time he was helping her propel her career. "She was young. I was married. We were working together and it just happened. It was beautiful," Robinson confessed.
However, guilt eventually shattered their clandestine romance. "Diana said to me she couldn't do that because she knew Claudette, and she knew I still loved my wife," Robinson recalls. The affair, he noted, taught him that "we are capable of loving more than one person at the same time." Ross, who has been married twice and had numerous high-profile relationships, hasn't commented on Robinson's revelation.
On an entirely different front, Texas is confronting an escalating crisis caused by an alarming increase in the population of wild hogs. With a capacity to reproduce rapidly, the number of these tusked creatures, weighing between 100 to 400 pounds, has surged from 1.8 million in 2012 to 3.4 million today, accounting for more than 10% of Texas' human population.
The havoc these feral hogs are wreaking is astounding. They are damaging crops, causing traffic accidents, and even attacking residents. At night, they run riot in both residential neighborhoods and farms, causing extensive damage to properties including golf courses and cemeteries, leading to an estimated $118 million in crop damage.
Local authorities seem helpless in controlling the wild hog rampage. Mike Bodenchuk, Texas Wildlife Services director, stated, "People can't barbecue their way out of this problem. It actually takes a concerted effort to get to the pig problem at a statewide basis."
These divergent narratives underscore the unexpected personal and public challenges that can surface, whether it's a revered musician grappling with the complexities of love or a state wrestling with an out-of-control wildlife population.
