Drake Bids Farewell to US Properties, Puts $88 Million California Mansion on the Market
Drake recently put his sprawling Beverly Hills estate, the last of his US properties, on the market for a staggering $88 million, as reported by the New York Post. The 24,260-square-foot mansion, situated in the hills above Benedict Canyon in Los Angeles, was acquired by the 36-year-old rapper from Robbie Williams last year for $75 million. The English pop star had purchased it in 2015 for $33 million.
The luxurious estate boasts breathtaking ocean views and is nestled among lush gardens and grounds, according to its listing. With seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, the main house occupies 20 acres of land. Other features include formal living and dining rooms, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with breakfast room, three additional ensuite bedrooms in staff quarters, a wine cellar, a gym, a game room, a library, an elevator, an 11-car garage, and two family rooms, one of which serves as a screening room.
The property also offers a tennis court, an orchard, and a pool/guest house with a mosaic-tiled pool and an indoor/outdoor kitchen.
An unnamed source told the New York Post that Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, has no immediate plans to buy another property in the US, preferring to reside in his hometown of Toronto, Canada. However, International Business Times could not independently verify the source's claims.
Over the past year, Drake has listed and sold all his US properties, including three Hidden Hills homes in LA. Two of the properties were bought by Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford for $11 million, while the third was sold for $14.8 million to Makan Delrahim, an Iranian American attorney and former US assistant attorney general during Donald Trump's presidency.
In Toronto's exclusive Bridle Path neighborhood, Drake owns a custom-built, 50,000-square-foot mansion, which he built after purchasing 2 acres of land in 2015 for $6.7 million.
In a February interview with Lil Yachty on the latter's Futuremood YouTube channel, the Grammy-winning artist hinted at the possibility of retiring from music in the future. Whether listing his $88 million estate is a step toward his retirement remains unclear.
Drake explained that he's considering the idea of a "graceful exit" from the competitive music industry. While he's not ready for full retirement yet, he emphasized that he won't force himself to compete with the new generation of artists and will stop making music once he feels he has nothing left to say.
"I guess what's left for me is just to find a way to gracefully — I'm not ready now — but to continue making projects that are extremely interesting and hopefully cherished by people, and then to find the right time to say, 'I can't wait to see what the next generation does,'" Drake shared.
